The PDM collection is a powerful product packaging for those working with design in the manufacturing industry or similar areas of use.

Create products with the latest product design and build tools, including Inventor, Fusion 360, Vault, and AutoCAD. The package contains connectable professional tools that help you create great products today so you can meet tomorrow’s competition in your industry.

With the PDM Collection you will provide your entire team with the right tools for design, testing, manufacturing, and product management.

Why choose an Autodesk Collection?

From MicroCAD, we recommend collections as they provide outstanding advantages such as the possibility of designing and manufacturing products with a complete set of tools.

On the other hand, managing licenses for various products is no longer complicated thanks to the much simpler management of licenses and software.

Access to earlier versions is also made possible through collections, guaranteeing that all team members can use the same software.

Also, take note that you can select between single-user subscriptions and sharing licenses with multi-user access by giving teams authorization. Additionally, you may always subscribe to any individual product or cloud service that completes the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection if you’re interested in it but need a few extra tools.

What does PDM Collection include?

Below we will see those products included in the PDM Collection that can bring the greatest benefit to your construction projects:

AutoCAD

The use of AutoCAD design software enables the expert construction and editing of 3D models containing solids, surfaces, and objects as well as 2D geometry. It is one of the most internationally recognized software due to the great variety of editing possibilities that can be found. That is the reason why it is a program widely used by architects, engineers, and industrial designers, among others. Currently, the software is developed and marketed by Autodesk, a leader in 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software.

AutoCAD software is available for both MAC and Windows and supported programming interfaces include ActiveX Automation, VBA, AutoLISP, Visual LISP, ObjectARX, and .NET. However, the type of interface to be used will depend on the needs of the application and the user’s programming experience. AutoCAD software offers a multitude of different options depending on the type of user. Thus, we find a set of specialized tools such as AutoCAD Map 3D, which incorporates topographic functions to manage information; AutoCAD Plant 3D, which facilitates the 3D design of plants; or AutoCAD Architecture, ideal for the architecture sector.

Within the software, there are four types of 3D modeling. The first is wireless structure modeling, a three-dimensional structure that serves to market the geometric references at the beginning of the design. Solid modeling helps establish mass parameters and section functions. Surface modeling provides precise control of curves to manipulate surfaces in detail. Finally, mesh modeling allows the folding, smoothing, and sculpting of freeform 3D shapes and objects.

Inventor

Autodesk Inventor is a 3D parametric solid modeling software.

Inventor offers professional and specific tools for 3D mechanical design, documentation, and product simulation, which facilitates product design work.

This way, designers and customers can create visual prototypes and make tests and drawings of 3D models.

As it is a specific program for product design, it has a large number of functions such as the parametric design of parts and assemblies, simulation, visualization, automation, libraries of standardized elements, and sketching, which are secondary in other CAD programs.

Inventor allows the integration of 2D and 3D data in the same environment creating a virtual representation of the final product so that the product’s performance can be inspected and adjusted at any time during the design phase.

Fusion 360

Autodesk Fusion 360 is a cloud-based CAD platform that is a very capable alternative to other industry leaders. It is easy to use and has all the features you would expect from other popular CAD packages. Fusion 360 was built from the ground up to be a complete product development solution and aims to provide a simple work process from conceptual design to manufacturing.

Fusion 360 has a very large knowledge base covering all features of the software. These tutorials are accessible through Fusion 360 and also through the Autodesk website.

The software receives frequent updates and gets new features every few months. Fusion 360 is perfect for startups looking for a professional tool to help them enter the market as well as companies with significant turnover.

You can perform resource-intensive operations in the cloud, such as renderings, simulations, shape optimization, and generative design. This means that work can continue while all the heavy lifting is done in the cloud.

Vault

Autodesk Vault is the data management (PDM) software that helps you manage, track, and organize your product information without hindering your design workflows. Manage and control engineering processes and product-related information from a single place.

Autodesk Vault enables you to collaborate effectively across projects-from combining work across disciplines to review designs and delivering data to all involved teams and customers.

Vault product data management (PDM) software integrates with Autodesk design tools and other CAD systems so everyone works from a central source of organized data.
